Transformation is in the mixing and baking!
As I am in the kitchen baking, I notice how all these different ingredients look pretty disgusting when first mixed together but yet when baked they turn into a wonderful masterpiece, a soft delicate Victoria sponge cake or a mouth watering Lemon Drizzle Cake. It doesn't take a Delia Smith to know that once you have baked a cake, those baked ingredients can never again be split into the separate ingredients that they once were. They have undergone serious development, irreversible change and after a bit of mixing, a lot of heat and a bit of time it has turned into something quite mouth watering, even if I do say so myself!
As if you have not noticed, our lives are also made up of different ingredients. This time God is the baker. He starts with life then adds experiences into the bowl: the hard ones and the happy ones. Pouring in regrets, achievements sprinkled with tears, laughter and perhaps confusion as to how all this can mix well together to be transformed into something new and holy and without fault! But God being the baker knows exactly what He is making and He won't stop until He is satisfied with the end sweet delight. He is faithful to complete the work he has begun in us. He sees you right now as transformed because of what Jesus has done for you when he died on the Cross. He sees you as holy, blameless and without fault and seated at the right hand of the Father. However, God is also working this transformation out in your life now in all that you do. It is God who is preparing you, shaping, mixing and moulding you through the rough times in order to produce something of your life that you would never be able to make yourself, this cake is beyond your imagination! Don't be surprised if things get a little hot and the pressure increases in life for this is transformation and you have to remember that the very essence, the very centre of God is nothing but goodness and love for you. He is always faithful, loving and caring no matter how much you get stirred in the mixing bowl of life. God knows that in order to produce a wonderful, perfect outcome, he knows the ingredients to add, how to mix them and how long each part of the process should last i.e. how long we are in the furnace! So don't despair! Trust God and begin to see what God sees when he looks at you. A wonderful, tasty masterpiece!

Thanks, Tina, for this analogy. We all need to know that God is the Baker and in charge of us. Otherwise the mixing, heating and pressure would be too much.
