Christian Surfers UK update us on their Jesus Surf Classic contest
Continued from page 2
I would suggest they get professional lessons, as this will ensure that they have a good basis and it will provide them with a safe environment in which to start out. The ocean can be a dangerous place and sadly surfing at times has taken its toll on people's lives. A good "education" right from the start will ensure maximum enjoyment at minimal risk. There are a number of surf schools around the UK and these are growing in number all the time. You can always contact us for advice and we'll put you in touch with a surf school in your area.
Heather: Finally, what's coming up and what's going to be happening next year?
Phil: Christian Surfers UK is expanding rapidly and the number of opportunities we have are also growing. Currently I am the only full-time worker for the organisation, but we are actively seeking someone else to come alongside me. We are continually looking to God and trying to see where He is leading us.
Next year will see us continue to run our main surf events as well as working alongside mainstream surf organisations at their events. There will also be numerous local surf initiatives, conferences, surf camps and surf weekends and we will be undertaking a number of short-term missions to various parts of the UK and Ireland as well as overseas. It's been great taking people on these missions as we know that God strengthens their faith as they get really tested outside their comfort zones.
During this last year we've also been very privileged to be able to purchase a van, due to support from individuals who donated money so generously. The vehicle will be seen around beaches of the UK and Ireland, so if you see us by all means come and introduce yourself and we'll be happy to give you some information about the organisation.
