Emily Graves spoke with Bill Medley about the spiritual journey he took writing his book
Continued from page 2
Bill: A lot of Christians have told me that they've found a lot of things that have helped strengthen their faith and know that their faith is based on solid historical evidence; but the primary audience of the book is the lady I first wrote the letter for. It is me coming out of being a sceptic and changing my mind and writing to her as someone who had a thousand questions and all of them dismissing the whole thing. I would say it's more for non-Christians, but it's also been read by a lot of Christians who have found it helpful.
Emily: What are you doing now?
Bill: From starting this journey a sceptic, I've now had a major career change. I have become a Presbyterian pastor. The interviews that I had to go through; there was a large group of very dour looking Scottish type fellows and they asked me all these questions and one of them said, "I see that you formally were a comedian; what do you think of humour in the pulpit"? I looked out at the faces and half of them were really old guys and I thought if I say yes to that I'm a gonna and if I say no, then there was this other half with these younger guys and they're going to think I'm a stick in the mud. I said, "Well, it's sort of irrelevant now that I've become a Presbyterian, I'm not funny anymore"; so they all burst out in laughter and said, "Good answer". I got in, so now I am a Presbyterian pastor.

This is a thoroughly enjoyable read, logically sequenced, lucid and very easy to digest.
Medley has explored and investigated the historical accuracy and archaeological evidence for the bible and relayed his findings in his own humorous and inimitable style.
On a personal level I have relished the chance to go 'deeper' in my understanding of who Jesus was and why so many people were prepared to die for their faith for a man who claimed to be divine.
Thank you Bill for shining a light into the pages of a powerful, life-changing and God breathed book!
