Simon Dillon gives his opinion on who should have won
Continued from page 1
Winner: Jennifer Lawrence - Silver Linings Playbook
My Choice: Quvenzhané Wallis - Beasts Of The Southern Wild. It isn't as great as some have claimed, but the central performance by Quvenzhane Wallis is nothing less than astonishing.
Best Supporting Actress:
Winner: Anne Hathaway - Les Misérables.
My Choice: Amy Adams - The Master. I like Anne Hathaway but I'm not a fan of Les Miserables (the musical, at any rate).
Best Animated Film:
Winner: Brave
My Choice: Frankenweenie. Actually every other film nominated was better than Brave. A real disappointment.
Best Adapted Screenplay:
Winner: Chris Terrio - Argo

My Choice: David Magee - Life Of Pi. With all due respect to Chris Terrio, Life of Pi is a much harder book to turn into a coherent film, let alone an outstanding one.
Best Original Screenplay:
Winner: Quentin Tarantino - Django Unchained
My Choice: Rian Johnson - Looper (not nominated). This one really grinds my gears. Any film that messes up its third act as self-indulgently as Django Unchained should not win Best Original Screenplay. As for Rian Johnson's non-nomination, it is nothing less than disgraceful. Looper was an astonishing film that pondered the deep question of exactly what it was that caused someone to turn evil. The fact that it also happens to be a genre piece involving time travel should not disqualify it from consideration. Grrrr..
Actually it should be the VFX houses that got the Oscar - Life of Pi wins, yet the VFX house that did all the work - Rhythm & Hues - went Bankrupt. They don't see anything of the massive profits :( This is wrong. https://www.facebook.com/VfxSolidarityIntl
