Jon Bellamy heard Ryan Cox's story.

Continued from page 3

Ryan: The main thing Walk has provided for me is love and guidance. When I come to Walk, obviously I stopped drinking, literally overnight, cause I was on that much medication I was like a walking pharmacy. I came out of prison on benefits and Walk has helped me come off the medication at my own pace and given me the love of God. I didn't come out my room for a while, because I was anxious. I didn't know all these feelings I was getting, because it felt strange being out in the world without a bottle of cider. So I sat in my room, found my peace and, eventually, started venturing out.

I got a little voluntary job in a charity shop in Stafford. I definitely put my trust in the Lord to get there and back without problems, because obviously the anxiety was still there. Simon, he was like, "D'you want to come to a Fixed conference in Manchester? There's going to be about 2,000 people there." I was like, "You what? No chance." I was quite adamant that I wasn't going and then on the day, I ended up going and I got healed of my depression and anxiety. Simon kept encouraging me, he said, "Don't worry, you'll be safe with this lot, a load of brawly blokes," so I said, "Come on, let's go then."

Jon: What did that healing feel like?

Ryan: Before, I was forever turning around, looking over my shoulder, always fiddling with my fingers, fiddling with something. I'd make any excuse to stay away from people, I just didn't want to know people and interact. Then I had prayer at the Fixed Conference and it felt weird, I felt a little bit dizzy to be honest, hot, shaky, but the shaking was normal to me at the time. I walked outside and something really did feel different. It felt like a massive weight was took off my shoulders. So that was the end of the anxiety and depression and the day after I woke up and binned all of my medication.

Jesus is definitely walking alongside me with everything I do and the greatest thing about it, is that He's never gonna give up on me, He's never gonna quit on me, ever.

Jon: You've been a Christian for one year, do you like worship?

Ryan: I do, I love worshiping God. It brings me up on a spiritual high. It's time as well to thank Him for everything.

Jon: Do you have experiences with God when you worship?

Ryan: I talk to God through worship. Some of the words in the songs I can relate to and I talk to God about it. I like all the different styles of worship music.

Jon: How do you view your future?

Ryan: I'm really excited for my future. Right now I'm off my benefits and I'm in a part-time job working in a garage, but I've got a flat in the pipeline in the next couple of months and once I get a flat I'll go on to full-time work at the garage. I'm looking forward, just keep walking, and just keep walking alongside with Simon and the other Walk lads. They've all been brilliant to me, I love them all. So, there's definitely a future for me now, there's no more of this death talk, it's life, eternal life in the name of Jesus. CR
