Emily Graves spoke with Gemma Gordon-Johnson from First4Adoption about the need for more people to adopt in the UK and getting rid of the myths surrounding religious people adopting.

Continued from page 2

Emily: And so really the thing that you guys at First4Adoption are going to be looking at is finding new ways to get the message out about how to adopt?

Gemma: Absolutely, that's right. And, you know, this is one of the reasons we've worked with Homes for Good and we've provided the dedicated number for them, so if anybody does want to give us a call they can contact us on 0300 222 5950 and we're open Monday to Friday 10am-6pm and they can just give us a call. And it means that they can give us a call and we're independent, so they can ask any question that they want without any fear that it's going to be part of their assessment as it were when they start working with an adoption agency.

Emily: And do you have a website as well if anyone wants to find out more?

Gemma: It's www.first4adoption.org.uk and there's lots of information up there about the adoption process; what it takes to become an adoptive parent and whether you're eligible or not. There's lots of information up there for people. You can also call our telephone information service number 0300 222 0022 to find out more. CR
