Romans 8: 38-39,
'For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.' (Romans 8:38-39)
Sometimes life is tough - not just normal tough, but really, really tough - the kind of tough that asks big questions about both who we are as individuals and how we are with God.
Sometimes we can find ourselves thinking "Lord, I know you promised that you would never let me experience more than I can cope with in you - but I think I'm getting there. Help!"
I came across a song today - a song about God's love for us all by Jami Smith - it's a simple enough song and yet it brought me to my knees:
Your love is deep
Your love is high
Your love is long
Your love is wide
Deeper than my view of Grace
Higher than this worldly place
Longer than this road I travel
Wider than the gap you filled
Who shall separate us
Who shall separate us from Your love
Nothing can separate us
Nothing can separate us from Your love
No matter how tough it gets....
Every time I think I have got the measure of the saving, comforting rock-like qualities of God's love - there is more.
Every time I think I can't go on because life is too hard - there is more.
Every time I think I'm alone in this situation - there is more.
God's love is deeper than my view of grace and more abundant than I can ever imagine.
When I examine the love I possess, I can only glimpse a speck of the love God has for me.
Nothing can separate us from God's love.
Nothing.
Ever.
'For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.' (Romans 8:38-39)
