The trouble with a lot of hip-hop these days is that it seems to have run out of ideas, however step up Robert Maxwell (no, not THAT one) whose approach is a breath of fresh air. Ontario-based RVM has a zany sense of humour and this is best showcased on "Weirdo" and one of my favourites "Digital Peasant", these definitely brought a smile to my face. On the title track RVM bemoans the lack of creativity in society and it could be said that he has brought this approach to his music. Check out his website as he has produced not only his music but also two promo videos for "Weirdo" and "The Man He Made" which is perhaps RVM at his most confessional. It must be said that this home-studio creator has taken a risk with diverse subject matter but on the whole it works though his technique may need a little polishing and singing is not his strong point. But this is definitely worth checking out.
