With a polish and flair that has come to be expected of the Paul Poulton Project, the modern blues vibe of 'Too Twitchy' is effortlessly received. Gracious in its modest simplicity, and engaging in its relevant content, this album was created to strike a chord with anyone and everyone. Its subject matter of the destructive nature of relationships lends itself well to the musical style. This is further enhanced by the counterpoint with the secondary idea of the value of relationships, both with each other and with God. The standout track, which no doubt you'll be hearing on Cross Rhythms Radio before too long, is the engaging "Why Are People Like That?", complete with one of Poulton's typically witty lyrics. This album of 10 well crafted original songs and an equally well imagined cover provide an excellent showcase to one of the most original Christian music acts on the British scene.

This album has a cleaner, punchier sound than previous cds and the guitar riffs seem to have more prominence. It features some of the best songs Paul has written in recent times, such as my favourite "I Like You", but "Too Twitchy" and "Lonely" really stand out for me too. The flashes of acoustic guitar are great too, and the acoustic riff on the excellent "Mistakes I've Made" is sublime. Overall, the songs are more melodic and and as a result there isn't really a weak one on here.

Both Ian (my Dad) and Vivienne refer to the richness of the Paul Poulton Sound on this excellent CD, but the inspirational quality of the tracks is epitomised by 'Too Big' and its message about the unfathomable nature of God and eternity, and our need to humbly receive all that God gives us with gratitude. An awesome CD!

"Too Twitchy" by Paul Poulton is another great album. The style & feel of this album is fresh and rich both musically & lyrically. The songs explore issues that are universal, such as relationships & loneliness plus others. Paul's lyrics can be compared to an idea of the still small voice that we read about in Isaiah, the lyrics are portrayed in whispers, echoes and nuances of meaning. The lyrics raise important questions. "Too Twitchy" is a gem of an album.

'Too Twitchy' is a typically light-hearted but seriously intentioned musical offering reflecting on personal issues and with a Christian theme. The Paul Poulton Sound is rich and chilled out, integrating Paul's vocals with the instrumental backing effectively. The Sound has taken Paul's music a stage further than his solo efforts enabled him to; but his witty yet profound lyrics have always hit home in the live setting!
