Apparently this band is American. I could have sworn they sounded like they're from Norway - home of soundalikes Emperor and Burzum. After all, this brand of black metal has a distinctly European/Scandinavian sound, especially when one also factors in their nods to death and folk metal as well. This is the debut EP from an ensemble who work fast and slow melodies in a way that will either leave fans of death and black metal salivating or deeply infuriated - depending on what works best for you. This debut left me feeling like their follow-up full release is what we need to judge this band by. This shows potential but so far has not impressed me in the way that most of their label mates on Bombworks have. As well as the already mentioned black metal comparisons, fans of Opeth and Virgin Black should also enjoy this - although will perhaps need to lower their standards (in terms of production particularly) a small amount.
