One could argue the fact that true originality is re-interpreting already established sounds in an unfamiliar fashion. The trick must surely be to do so in such a way as to grab and maintain attention long enough for people to sit up and take notice. Mixing hillbilly rock 'n' roll with hard-core fused punk then throwing in elements of ska for good measure, Blah's novel sound needs to be heard to be believed! For example, take the near-swing rockabilly tones of "You're Gonna Lose", or the more familiar punk territory of the instrumental cut "Eye 2" and "Make Up Your Mind". Blah's debut Rustproof release boosts well-crafted, intelligently written art that is certainly an acquired taste. If you're tired of the well established, glossy musical pulp, you would do well in checking out Blah's unique brand of pioneering rock music.
