Reviewed by Trevor Kirk Wyatt Wilson, Jeff Stanley, Christian Davis and Robbie Hiner, aka The Old Time Gospel Hour Quartet, belong to the non-Gaither sector of Southern gospel, which is also populated by such groups as Greater Vision and The Oak Ridge Boys, all of whom have a reputation for making good quality cringe-free music. This CD is a very good example of the genre, it contains material new and not so new, a lot of it is self-penned, and there are one or two surprises, notably a reading of Steven Curtis Chapman’s 1988 CCM hit "His Strength Is Perfect". The boys are on good form throughout, their voices blend well, they're always on the note, and despite some purists complaining that popularising Southern gospel diminishes it, I’d rather listen to something like this than a Homecoming Friends album any day. Well worth your attention.
