The latest sphere of growth in contemporary Christian music in the Southern Hemisphere would seem to be South Africa, as this album, subtitled 'A Fresh Worship Experience For Thirsty People', would suggest. 'The God Sessions' have a good line in hooky pop-rock with a worship slant, the lyrics are up front and positive, the vocals are clear and sharp and the band cooks. Nothing innovative, but plenty of meaty music and it isn't all high volume stuff either, there are reflective moments too. I don't doubt that there are more bands in South Africa who are worthy of a wider audience, and if Kingsway's tie-up with Sarepta brings us more of the quality of this one, then I for one would not be unhappy.
