In the mid '80s, MCA Records reactivated the Dot imprint and it seems fitting that T Bone Burnett recorded this country flavoured album for the label. Since the success of the 'Oh Brother Where Art Thou' soundtrack album, Burnett's name is synonymous with Americana but this album demonstrates how it's always been part of his musical palate. This mix of original Burnett songs and contributions from other writers features a stripped down production and a live feel for the recording process akin to the earlier Dot recordings. The overall sound is characterised by acoustic and pedal steel guitars, some gentle violin work and Burnett's distinctive voice, this album is beautifully sparse and uncluttered. Highlights include one of Burnett's best songs "River Of Love" and the plaintive "No Love At All".
