Stowmarket Songsters celebrate their 125th anniversary this year and although this recording is not directly linked to this anniversary it does act as an excellent showcase for the gifts of the group and is a worthwhile marker of the event. The 19 tracks (78 minutes) on offer here compliment their previous recording, 'Remember Me', in that rather than, as they did previously, choosing songs from the 1970s and 1980s repertoire this collection contains more modern compositions. The linking theme of the songs is the well-known verse from Ecclesiastes Three, 'There is a time for everything' and this is unpicked gently for the listener as the recording progresses. There is minimal accompaniment, so the voices are to the fore and those vocal offerings are excellent when delivered both as a full choir and as a solo. There is good variety in tempo and feel across the recording, and yet the general ambience remains appropriately gentle, given the over-arching theme.
