Reviewed by Brian Edgeley 'The Adventures Of Sir Bernard, The Good Knight', is a CD aimed at helping children develop the 12 virtues of friendliness, obedience, thrift, courtesy, trustworthiness, kindness, helpfulness, cheerfulness, bravery, loyalty, cleanliness and reverence. Sir Bernard (say it with an American accent, Bur-nard - nard as in hard) is a chivalrous knight who agrees to take on a scruffy orphan pup called Little Dog as his apprentice; and that is where the adventures begin. For his first quest Little Dog must learn the 12 virtues that the King's knights live by, and so the story unfolds. I know I have written this before, but this is an American recording repacked and sold over here, with the addition of a foreword by Steve Green. It is a shame that we can't produce story-lines like this over here and sell those as it would seem natural to do it in our own language. As it goes the story is great for little ones although I was not able to ask my teenage children to help me listen to it! The CD doesn't have a recommendation as to which age-group it would suit best, but I would say it would benefit children from 12 months to five years old. It comes packed with a read along booklet which is a shortened version of the CD story, but the last track on the album is a complete version of the booklet, which you and your child can read along to!
