Ottawa-based worship leader Towaij has one of those dramatic testimonies that really inspire and remind us that no one is beyond the reach of our Saviour. Scott's appreciation for how God rescued him is obvious throughout 'Sons Of Light'. In the second track "Your Love Reigns" he talks of being the fat kid, the abused kid, the thief and the liar but declares that God's son has come to his aid. Towaij's raspy voice is not particularly conventional and this too makes the songs stand out as something special. As well as being a worship leader he is also a teacher and this comes through in the instructive "One Church" and the call to arms "Brothers In The Lord" although these songs do seem to suffer musically as a result or their wordiness. There is plenty of variety here and this is far from a middle of the road rock album. "You Are The Only One" features a superb double bass undertone, dipping and plodding like a Beth Orton tune. Altogether an interesting record from an inspiring gentleman.
