John is, of course, best known for his classic "How He Loves". He has, however, a rich catalogue of music from his previous nine albums and EPs and here they are plundered to produce a memorable 17-song live experience recorded in Charlotte, North Carolina. Ranging across a sound that takes in everything from Bruce Springsteen to Kenny Rodgers, John's rasping, gravelly voice soars above the rock-oriented tracks like "Guns/Napoleon" which roars into life with soaring guitar and drums while "Borderland" maintains the tempo while declaring the tension of living on earth with an eye on Heaven. Each song engages the audience with memorable melodies and emotive lyrics while John's wife Sarah contributes two songs with the hypnotic "King Of My Heart" being a standout. Jesus Culture's Kim Walker-Smith also makes a welcome appearance on the worship anthem "Future/Past" while ringing the changes the bluegrass-tinged "Skeleton Bones" is another highlight. In fact, this whole live experience is masterfully executed from one of the Church's finest artists.
