Former hip-hop artist Joey The Jerk, who rose to prominence with LA Symphony, has gone for a change of direction on this EP. Teaming up with Superchick's bass player and producer Matt Dally, Joey's Dream offers an eclectic mix of genres and sounds. "Piece Of Sunshine" glances back to Joey's musical roots using lots of sampled sounds and counter rhythms to create an interesting soundscape on which to sing his feel good lyrics. "Sierra" takes on a more ambient, acoustic rock feel and deals with issues of teenage pregnancy and forgiveness. Then style switches again in "Poetry In Motion" that has crunchy electric guitars and a Linkin Park and dc Talk sound to it. Joey is clearly a talented musician who has a heart for God who is capable of bridging the genres, although I think this might leave listeners in a state of limbo, not knowing what they're going to get next. But one has to admit that Joey has a much more diverse musical palette than he has previously shown.
