Canadian singer/songwriter Jaylene weighs in here with an album of devotion to God (as evidenced in the fantastically mellow but profound "Only Have My Love") and songs about the search for truth and meaning (the wonderful "Here And Now" which explores what Augustine of Hippo described as the longing for every human to connect with God). This is not an album of simple sycophancy to the divine, but rather, like Matt Redman a few CDs in, shows a mature Christian realising that the more she knows of God the less she knows. Even songs about death (the quite entrancing "Angels") are full of a reverent attitude to God and all things divine ("And I could almost hear the angels/As they sang their heavenly song/I could almost hear them saying/Welcome, welcome home"). Bottom line is this - if I'd been surfing websites looking for interesting music I'd probably have passed this one by. And that would have been the biggest mistake of my summer.

I can only agree. I highly recommend this artist. I discovered Jaylene Johnson's music by chance and instantly fell in love with sound and lyrics. Her songs are so beautiful, honest, introspective - and vulnerable. And so relatable. She doesn't gloss over struggles and questions of our life. And so she shows a God who is big enough, truly forgiving, and healing. Songs like "Loving Me Anyway", "Not Forgotten" or "Butterfly Girl" are so encouraging. God can use us despite our imperfection because he can use us through Christ. - I couldn't be without "Finding beautiful" anymore.
