To record a praise and worship album devoted to the concept of prayer (and to release it in Britain) is brave to say the least. After all, typical images of a praying church (monotone voices and old women) are not always that flattering. Yet, at a time when folk seem to be waking up to the ever increasing need for heartfelt intercession this recording points us in the right direction. Going for the jugular Harry Browning cries out for a transformation of the church into a righteous people with true vision of a Holy Father. One of the best tracks, "The Lord Wants A Wall", typifies the urgency with which the Body must act: "The Lord wants a wall/A line of demarcation... The Lord wants a wall/A mark of distinction/The Lord wants a wall/And we've got to build it." Prayers, prophecies and promises alike are placed on a backdrop of above par white soul/rock music with Harry's voice sounding a bit like a restrained Joe Cocker. This album is refreshing in its refusal to pull any punches and, to its credit; it does not always provide pleasant listening.

I'm a childhood friend of Harry Browning, but haven't seen or talked to him in decades. If any of his fans know a direct email to him I would appreciate it if you'd pass it along. I'm Randy Harris in Hot Springs, Arkansas. My email is neil1152@yahoo.com

"One more mile" has a lot of great guitar work and I always loved the deep sound that Harry produces on his. I think everybody should have a copy. Now, I just need to get caught up on what Harry and Laury are doing now.

Sadly, Harry is probably the most overlooked artists of our generation. It is a pleasure to find others who love this project. In trying to get a better copy of it I did ultimately find a CD... and I heard the story of how the studio masters were lost... so, unfortunately, this is a project that will not likely be re-released (remastered) etc. Too bad. It is brilliant.

The Browning/Wallace project is totally different... it is basically a Blues record with some classic rock tracks thrown in as well. Always mindful of faith and deep Christian spirit. You just can't believe how great this is. It is a crime that it is so little known.

I've found so many more recordings from this artist... wish they were available to share for the whole world... what a gift it would be to so many who love the Lord and the bluesy sound of rock built on American roots music.
