With a growl/shriek that could strip bark from trees, Alabama-based Gideon launch into the title track of 'Calloused' clearly determined to take no prisoners. That is followed with a fast and furious "Savage" which lives up to its title while "Survive" features Caleb Shomoo of the band Beartooth swapping some lines with the leather-lunged Gideon frontman. "Prison Eyes" is almost rapcore interspersed with a telling sung hook. If you're up for the extreme end of hardcore Gideon deliver with all the ferocity you're looking for while their clever use of unpredictable production sounds courtesy of studio man Will Putney (For Today, Stay From The Path) will keep your head going through the motions from first to last. Facedown Records are still delivering the hardcore goods.
