Both Mike Rimmer and I raved over this band's debut EP when they were working under the name The Yearning and now this most original of UK trios return with a new moniker and a new EP. Encouragingly they kept the same dreamy, eerie, moody vibe which made their 'Afterthought EP' debut so engaging though this time the production values have been upped. The opener, "Collateral", has Ed Priestnall delivering his vocals in staccato clumps of words over a delightfully ricocheting rhythm; "Unfurling" suggests a full tilt rocker at the intro but then develops into a multi-layered vibey track while the final cut, "Open The Door", is keyboard-led and features the group's other vocalist, Jennifer Papps. Impossible to easily pigeonhole, this is haunting left-of-centre pop rock for discerning listeners.
