Scottish tenor Drummond is a man on a mission, to rid the world of dreary church music. Certainly he is a man with the experience to take on the task: brought up with "traditional church music", gained a scholarship at Trinity College and has spent a number of years as a choirmaster. The aim is to present traditional tunes with "a more modern upbeat accompaniment". This is a difficult task and I feel this collection does not go far enough to address this, if tracks such as "Ombra Mai Fu" are an example. However, his stated aim to present music suitable for weddings and funerals does suit the style presented here better. This is best illustrated by tracks such as "Love Divine" and "Ave Maria", which have the benefit of being familiar to many. Overall, this is a promising debut.
