This American husband and wife duo go by the name Destroy Nate Allen, and when wifey isn't in tow Nate Allen does him fine. This double CD is described as "interactive sing-a-long, folk punk", and is certainly every bit as quirky as that suggests. Borrowing heavily from the DIY ethos of classic punk recordings, Nate Allen and spouse have penned a fun selection of jangly, singable nuggets of punk. It's certainly not for everyone, and those expecting polished, glossy singer/songwriter prowess will probably be disappointed, as this is about as raw as acoustic recordings get. If, however, you can get past the slightly off-pitch singing and scratchy guitar work, you will find a treasure trove of enjoyable ditties that will tug at your inner child's sense of fun. In addition to 'Destroy Nate Allen', there's a selection of solo tracks from Nate, which mostly consist of the singer/songwriter passionately twanging away on his banjo and spewing some remarkably poignant lyrics such as on "How To Make A Girl Cry", a loving tribute to his wife. The lo-fi presentation may put off some listeners but acoustic punk fans and aficionados of left-of-centre music will want to investigate.
