This collective emanates from the Door Of Hope church based in Portland, Oregon and formed by singer, songwriter and pastor Josh White (best known for his work with Telecast). As well as Josh, the Collective also contains Josh Garrels, whose 'Love & War & The Sea Inbetween' was named by Christianity Today as "the best Christian Album Of The Year' for 2012. White's "Look Up" opens the album with a gloriously understated acoustic guitar melody line. White's songwriting combines an expression of spiritual thirst and worshipful lyrics with sensitive acoustic chords. Next is another gem, Garrels and his inimitable vocal style with its dazzling ascents into falsetto accompanied by acoustic guitar makes "Anchor Of My Soul" and an almost spectral "Hallelujah" chorus equally arresting. Holly Ann brings a jazz-touched female vocal while the title track is by Evan Way. "Victory In The Lamb" by Wesley Eader has bluegrass guitar and banjo ushering in a robust proclamation of Jesus' saving work while Joe Lange's "The Fountainhead" is another highlight. Garrels re-appears with "The Children's Song". Deeper Well's aim is to "use their creative gifts to explore the depths of the Gospel" and they succeed wonderfully.
