Like many up and coming modern country-rock-gospel starlets, Darren Collier's songs are full of descriptive exhortation that urge the listener lo look up, scour each verse and embrace the realism of his words. In these closing days of the millennium, familiar audio settings bring a sense of realism and identification to everyday living. Darren's voice is easy to listen to but not dreamy, backed up with competent country-rock instrumentation. A few decades ago, lofty lyrics about such spiritual themes, would not figure in prominent country-gospel recordings. There are a few songs that stand out from the general thread of this album, the first one called "Standing On The Truth" is a polished track. The secĀond is entitled "Creature Of Habit", a challenging narrative about not conforming to the culture we find ourselves in.
