Do you still yearn for the gone-but-not-forgotten The Call or wonder what U2 would sound like if they'd decided to go into Strawmen territory?... But enough of such cheap reminds-me-of reviewer's tricks. This band recently made a little bit of Christian radio history by having the highest debut entry by an unsigned artist on the much used Pure Rock Report 'Multi-Format' chart ever. (The last unsigned band that made such a splash were Prayer Chain who were subsequently snapped up by Reunion and BMG.) One track in and you can hear what all the fuss is about, melodic rock with more hooks than a school cloakroom and the same kind of layered rhythm approach that made the 77s' 'Pray Naked' such a tour-de-force. Standouts are "The Color Of Men" which incisively slices through the sin of racism, "Wastin' Time" about redeeming the time for God, and "You Will" which is currently rubbing shoulders with the White Hearts, Phil Keaggys and Guardians on US radio. A brilliant album - hear it on Chris Cole's radio shows.
