Recorded live at the Greater Travelers Rest Baptist Church, Georgia, this is (after the rather cheesy opening 25 seconds) a typically exuberant 58 minutes' worth of gospel. All the usual ingredients are here - a choir giving it plenty, strong soloists, a tight band, and, sadly, some gospel cliches and a strong dose of call-and-response repetition on some tracks. I wasn't impressed with the lack of live atmosphere, with tracks being faded early, and on other occasions, the congregation a bit far back in the mix - perhaps it's better on the DVD. On the credit side, all the material is in house, and if this is your scene, then I don't think that you'd be disappointed with most of this. However, I just can't help believing that there are gospel choirs out there that can do better than this.
