Live worship albums don't always work for me, often failing to communicate effectively the spirituality and sense of reverence in such occasions. Thankfully, this album from a worship team based at a church in Simi Valley, California is one of those that does work and it is to the credit of those involved. Firstly, it starts in the right place with a right spirit engaged in worship of Jesus and is supported by excellent musical talent and sensitive and sensible recording and production. After a short intro it starts with an excellent guitar-driven version of Chris Tomlin's "Forever" and this strong guitar-based sound continues into the next few songs. It then moves into a more intimate time of worship which contrasts well with the opening. Later there is an interesting version of "Be The Centre" which I think epitomises the essence of the whole album - it contains all the important parts like the distinctive acoustic guitar finger pick without being completely derivative. They managed to stamp their own mark upon this excellent song. Sandwiched in amongst the well known numbers are a selection of their home grown songs and these fit seamlessly into place, which is also to their credit. Finally, rock trivia buffs should note that the Tony Palacio on this project is not the same as the legendary Tony Palacios who once fronted premier '90s band Guardian, but our chap here plays some mean bass lines.

Correction: Tony Palacio (no "s" on the end of Palacio)
featured on this worship CD is not the same
guitarist/vocalist from the well-known band Guardian. The
two often get confused with each other because of the
similar last names.
