This is potentially a very stirring album, consisting of a collection of well-loved songs from Billy Graham's rallies in Britain since 1953. Sung by huge congregations and choirs, the selection stretched from Wesley through to Kendrick, with strong leading from veteran music director Cliff Barrows and solos by the inimitable George Beverly Shea. The feel of the recording was sometimes ponderous and the mix rather quirky on several tracks; this, combined with the odd loss of sound quality, could be distracting. Generally, though, I found the album reasonable listening; the material conveys a real sense of occasion and helps to lift the heart towards God. It's a pretty good snapshot of the British evangelical worship 'scene' since the fifties.
