When it comes to new bands for 2002, this band are very high on my list and I've been enjoying the pre-release of this for months. I've also been trying to persuade some of my fellow radio presenters that these guys are going to be huge! Roots rock is the name of the game here and fans of the Dave Matthews Band et al will have plenty to get stuck into here. Creating hooky songs that worm their way into your consciousness is no mean feat and "Friend Like You", "In Christ" and the funky "Never Going Back" sound like hits to me! Lyrically the band write songs that are spiritually focused so that the listening experience is uplifting and musically there is no compromise. Even when they take the tempo down on the brilliant worship ballad "Audience Of One" and the album closer "Rest", the musical intensity still stands. Not sure whether this album will be an immediate hit, it sounds like a slow burner to me so why not get into it now and beat the crowd because Big Daddy Weave are a band that deserve to make a major impact. Fabulous stuff.
