This is Avalon's second greatest hits CD, but it follows after a decent six-year interval since the previous 'Testify To Love' in 2003. They have released four projects in the interim, but only four songs from them make this compilation, including what seems like the obligatory (but highly polished) cover of "In Christ Alone". 11 are repeated from the earlier one, and there is one new track, "Still My God". To this reviewer, Avalon move in the same territory as X Factor and American Idol contestants. They are talented vocalists (currently including former solo CCM artist Greg Long), who were put together by a management executive. Musically, they fit that section of the market, too, but of course the lyrics are explicitly Christian. Sole ever-present member Janna Long writes in the CD booklet they have always wanted to perform songs that would encourage the Church, and that seems a fair assessment. So if you like Simon Cowell's definition of pop music but would like some spiritual content, then Avalon are a good choice for you, and this makes a fine introduction to them. Just be careful if you already have 'Testify To Love'.

Interesting review. I wonder what David thinks of Point of Grace?
