Reviewed by Tony Cummings Cy from Dallas, Texas describes herself as a "singer, songwriter, vocal producer, dancer, model, make-up artiste and actress." Maybe she should cut down on some of the activities and concentrate on her music as this 2017 six-song EP turns out to be one of the best R&B gospel projects of recent times. It's almost scandalous that the US gospel industry has yet to give her the affirmation Cy's talent deserves. An exceptional and distinctive voice, some cleverly arranged production and three songs, "Your Higher Name", "Through It All" and "I O U", feature hooks and performances strong enough to make it to the Cross Rhythms playlist all make 'Balance' a creative triumph. As far as we know, the four Cross Rhythms radio stations are the only stations in the world to put these cuts on their playlist. A scandal indeed. For these three cuts show that Ms Jackson is, in terms of talent, up there with Mandisa, Tasha Cobbs Leonard and the other gospel big hitters. Give the lovely lady some encouragement - buy 'Balance'.
