Soul Sista isn't a band but a really cool Soul Survivor ministry now fronted by Beth Redman to encourage the faith of young women making sense of their beliefs in contemporary culture. Got to confess the ministry is a cool idea and creating an album of songs to reflect that work is fabulous. The songs themselves fit with the ethos of the ministry and are an encouraging listen across the board. For example Lex Brodie's cut "Heaven Rejoices" reminds us that we have a God who rejoices over us with singing. The album's highlight is Esther Alexander and Beth Redman's soulful, worshipful "Lifted Up". Elsewhere there are other contributions from Lou Fellingham, Vicky Beeching and Andreana Arganda. Six Soul Sistas joined together delivering seven spiritual songs in a pop idiom. It all works!
