Let me take you back in time to the 80s. It s time to open the wardrobe and grab your span-dex trousers, look in the mirror and get the spray ready to make that hair big! Close your eyes and it s like grunge never happened! These re-releases from M8 certainly bring back memories and for metal fans it s great to be able to grab hold of these old recordings remastered on CD. As for Trytan, the three-piece band (built around the guitar/vocal talents of Larry Dean supported by bassist Steve Robinson and drummer Scotty Blackmore) were never premier league stuff and it shows here. Obviously it s all very much of its era and solidly 1987, but songs like the cringy Rip Van Winkle and Mr Electric playing his air guitar only show how ludicrous this was! Bonus out-takes and demo tracks fill out the re-re-release - all very nice (and you can catch Larry doing his best Geddy Lee impression on In Her Eyes etc, etc - but I can t help feeling that this is strictly for rabid metal heads only.

I love Trytan, I used to go to Larry's church, Heart Manuevers, a few years back. Then he went to Texas, last I heard he was back in Joliet!
