Their self-titled debut album made them one of the hottest properties Stateside in urban gospel. Now Trinitee 5:7 release their follow up 'Spiritual Love'. And how they've grown! Angel Taylor, Chanelle Haynes and Terri Brown-Britton are the talented female trio, and from the sheer R&B bounce of the opening cut "Put Your Hand", here's an album that's full of soulful sounds and hot licks. There's also plenty of talent making guest appearances as Tramaine Hawkins and Crystal Lewis add their mighty vocals to the proceedings. Lyrically it's in yer face every time with "My Body", a strident hands-off call to premarital sexual activity, and the title cut celebrates the fulfilment of Jesus-centred romantic relationships. "Imagine That" has the sort of contemporary groove (hat's been employed this year by The Winans and Anointed to great effect. "Highway" is where Tramaine does her stuff on an old-fashioned gospel blues tune, and there's some tasty slow funk on "Gonna Get Myself Together", even features a guest appearance from Kirk Franklin. Aside from all those tremendous soulful moments, there are some harder edges here with the punchy "How You Living", asking some tough questions and giving out challenges. Personally, I like the understated funk of "We Know" but what I was hoping for was one outstanding gospel workout that would shift me out of my seat. Although I like the pop R&B of "Put Your Hand", there's still something missing from the wide urban formula employed here.
