Out of the ashes of the band Justifide comes this Illinois-based band with the Moncivaiz Brothers at the core. They are joined by Ryan Dugger on drums. Reform The Resistance say their music combines elements of rock, electronica, hip-hop, experimental, Latin, R&B and jazz. Though this sounds like an intriguing cocktail of sound I have to report that rock is the main element. I have to say that the lead song "Kill Lies" is awesome rock at full pelt (you can view the video on YouTube). "Kill Lies" has to be one of my favourite rock songs of this year. Although such towering standards aren't quite maintained through the rest of the album, "Tonight We Ride" is another cracker, with that too having its own video. The eclecticism comes in later. I like the fact that instead of settling in to a predictable pattern after the first two songs, Reform The Resistance have explored some intriguing fusion of styles. The result is a mature and classy album.
