The Know Hope Collective is the collaborative community project formed by ex-Audio Adrenaline members Mark Stuart and Will McGinniss, alongside other artists in the emerging worship scene. The CD is part of a much wider presentation of story-telling and artistic expression, inspired by the vulnerability experienced in sharing an experience of life and of God's hand in it. The songs on offer here are easy to listen to and learn, range from bold praise to meditative reflection, are accessible from the off and are rich enough to bear repeat listens. They are solidly played and produced and each song has its own distinctive touch that keeps you listening. Stuart is joined on vocal duty by Julia Ross (amongst others) and their voices interplay particularly well - responsibility for lead vocals is shared and this adds a great dynamic. Opener "Attention" is a call to "be still and know that I am God" with anticipation that God will speak - it's a great way to start the album and sets up a recurrent theme of God's touch transforming us to live lives of faith, worship and service. "Build Us Back" is a testimony of God's restoration and redemption after "the thief takes" and "our hopes cave" and is an example of simple, powerful songwriting. I love the sentiments behind "We Remember", looking back, seeing Jesus' faithfulness, bringing hope and anticipating his return. "Jealous God" is a response to Jesus' loving pursuit of us ending with the gentle proclamation "Now I know, you would stop at nothing". Not all the songs are a stretch lyrically and could sometimes afford to go a little deeper but they are honest and heartfelt. Know Hope Collective was an unexpected pleasure that I would particularly recommend for personal worship and certainly appreciate as one aspect of a wider movement. I look forward to hearing more as the movement develops.
