The core of After The Chase is husband and wife duo, Nathan and Jenna Strong, who are ably assisted by numerous guest musicians. This 10 track CD from the Californian-based group is their second release, following on from their accomplished self-titled debut. There are hints of country and folk in the After The Chase sound and these, coupled with some strong melodies, help to lift the songs from being just another collection of intimate worship songs. I love the acoustic guitar-driven "I'll Be A Fool" with the line "Human wisdom can't compare to the absurdity of God" and the wonderfully beguiling "Make Me New". The band have engaged the services of a producer and arranger for this project, Nate Sabin, and it has really helped to cement everything together with a polished feel. A positive step and a positive album.
