Two-albums-for-the-price-of-one. It's a good deal, but the albums have got to be worth reĀissuing in the first place. And the truth is that 2nd Chapter Of Acts were well past their glory days of "Easter Song" et al by the time they cut these two LPs in the mid eighties. These should have been hot. There's a wealth of great musos playing (Michael Omartian, Kerry Livgren etc.) and Matthew Ward is undoubtedly one of the greatest vocalists the world of pop, let alone the world of gospel, has ever produced. But the melodies here are largely unmemorable and the Herring Sisters' harmonies often seem exercises in cleverness for its own sake. Overblown pop gospel which has dated without developing golden oldie charm.
