Owl City achieves huge success on US mainstream
A NEW ARTIST from Owatonna, Minnesota, Owl City, has stunned the US music industry by shooting to number one on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Chart with the track "Fireflies". Owl City is the electronic brainchild of Adam Young, who launched his career in 2007 from his parents' basement with music that is a blend of electronica and emo-pop using little more than his computer and various keyboards to record the material. Owl City released the independent projects 'Maybe I'm Dreaming' and 'Of June' in 2008 before being signed to Universal Republic Records. His record label debut album 'Ocean Eyes' is close to platinum sales. On his MySpace page Adam writes, "I follow Jesus Christ wholeheartedly. He is my life, my strength, my all." Owl City is currently undertaking his first national tour of the US.
