Award nominee Rhydian Roberts refuses to hide Christian faith
CLASSICALLY trained singer and X Factor competitor Rhydian Roberts, whose album 'O Fortuna' is currently nominated for the award of Album Of The Year 2010 at the Classical Brits Awards, has revealed that he was told by his record company to keep quiet about being a Christian "because you'll alienate people and be less successful." Rhydian is urging supporters to vote for him "to show that recording company that someone can be both openly Christian AND highly successful."
'O Fortuna' includes a duet with Dame Kiri te Kanawa (of Karl Jenkins'
"Benedictus"), versions of "How Great Thou Art" and "Ave Verum Corpus"
and his new song "I Won't Let You Walk This Road Alone" plus a duet
with fellow Welshman and opera star Bryn Terfel. The album was
produced by Karl Jenkins OBE, the UK's most popular contemporary
composer. The winner of the Album Of The Year Classical Brit Award is
decided by a public vote, online at
www.classicalbrits.co.uk/voting. The voting closes on 23rd April.
Rhydian has a magnificent voice - it echoes around my house and makes me feel happy or I cry because of the beauty it unfolds. Before I go to bed at night I listen to a track and fall asleep feeling contented.
